Kite Fishing for Sailfish

Stuart, FL is known as the world’s sailfish capital, and it is not uncommon to have double-digit days when it comes to Kite fishing for Sailfishing. Sailfish are known as the fastest fish in the ocean, reaching speeds of up to 70 mph. They spend their days hunting baitfish and are one of the top predators in the ocean. These fish use their bills to create bait balls and slash their bills to stun their prey.

Kite fishing for Sailfish is arguably the most effective method to target pelagic fish, especially sailfish. Utilizing the kite line to hang baits from keeps them within feet of the surface of the water so most bites from fish are visible when they go after the bait. We will utilize two kites at a time while using 4 to 6 conventional rods in order to effectively cover an area larger than a football field. Baits are bridled to the hook via a rubber band to maximize hook-up ratio. When hooking a fish while kite fishing, you can effectively leave the remaining baits in the water while fighting the caught fish to enhance the opportunity for multiple hook-ups.
